MANILA — Suddenly bursting into tears Tuesday on “It’s Showtime,” Jackie Gonzaga unwittingly clued in fans on an apparent heartbreak, stirring rumors of a breakup with her real-life boyfriend Tom Doromal.
In the live episode of the noontime program on Wednesday, Gonzaga’s sudden breakdown once again became the topic onstage, with Vice Ganda teasing his ward about how she seemed to be avoiding Doromal.
Without directly mentioning Doromal, Vice Ganda noted that a certain individual joined the opening minutes of “It’s Showtime,” whereas Gonzaga did not, despite her being a staple in that segment.
Doromal, a member of the dance group Hashtags, was seen dancing along to the “It’s Showtime” jingle earlier in that episode.
Evading Vice Ganda’s playful questions, Gonzaga instead channeled her “angst” through a dance — a turnround from her vulnerable state on Tuesday when even the slightest teasing triggered her tears.
At the same time “It’s Showtime” aired on Wednesday, Doromal took to Instagram to address speculation that the reason behind Gonzaga’s emotional outburst was their breakup.
He denied this was the case, saying: “Hindi po kami hiwalay ni Jackie. FYI po, hindi po kami naghiwalay, okay? Iyon lang ‘yon.”
While Doromal has spoken up to put to rest rumors of a separation, Gonzaga has yet to give a direct statement regarding their relationship. This, despite hints of an apparent falling out going by her on-air exchange with Vice Ganda.
