Psychologists called out Vice Ganda due to this
It’s Showtime host Vice Ganda had a moment with “Kulot” during a recent episode of Isip Bata segment in the Kapamilya noontime show and this received reactions from two psychologists.
In the said segment, the alleged marital infidelity of Kulot’s father was opened up. At one point, Vice asked the young girl if she could say “mahal kita” to her father. However, Kulot refused to do so.
“Minsan sasabihin mo, masarap ‘yun sa damdamin kapag nasasabi mo sa Itay na mahal mo siya. Gusto mo bang sabihin sa Itay ‘yon?” the Unkabogable Star said, based on the article in Bandera.

This trended on social media and some netizens expressed that disagree with what Vice Ganda did. Following that episode, two psychologists shared their thoughts on what happened on national TV.
Psychologist Jeemon Rey Amaca Bacaoco said that he has been seeing children crying on national TV and although the intention was good, he stressed that this might affect negatively the mental health and well-being of the children.
Bacaoco also shared the message that he has for Vice. “You should also not force a child to say I love you to a family member especially if she has expressed that she’s not comfortable doing it,” he said. The psychologist added that Vice could consult a child psychologist so that he will have an idea about the consequences of his action and working with children.

Psychologist and content creator Riyan Portuguez stressed that is not required for someone to say “I love you” to the person who hurt his or her feelings. “All feelings are valid. All emotions require processing. Mahirap magsabi ng ‘mahal kita’ kung hindi naman din na-demonstrate sa kanya ang trust. Pakiramdam ko mula sa sinasabi ng bata. May na-break na trust doon,” Portuguez said.
He also pointed out that forgiveness and saying “I love you” should not be forced, especially if the person is not yet ready. “Maging mabuti sana tayong ehemplo sa mga kabataan,” the psychologist said.
