Vice Ganda talked about his career
Comedian-host Vice Ganda cited the reason why he can say that he is still “unkabogable” years after this moniker was given to him.
Many people love Vice and his comedic style. This is the reason why his comedy movies were blockbuster hits, especially those that were included in the official entry for Metro Manila Film Festival.
The first leading role in a movie that he got was The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin in 2011, directed by the late Wenn Deramas. Vice said in a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, that the late director molded him into what he is now as an artist.

That first project with Direk Wenn was followed by other blockbuster hits such as Sisterakas (2012); Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy (2013); The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin (2014); and Beauty and the Bestie (2015).
Because of that, he earned the moniker “Unkabogable Phenomenal Box Office Superstar.” For the MMFF 2024, Vice Ganda showcased a different side of himself as an actor as he indulged in the drama genre. His performance in this movie directed by Jun Lana earned a Special Jury Citation trophy.
Vice admitted what he felt about the recognition. “Binigyan nila ako ng citation kasi nag-drama ako. So kung hindi ako nag-drama, hindi talaga nila ako mapapansin. I was seen because I did something else aside from comedy,” he said.
The comedian-host felt like comedy has been disregarded as a legitimate genre. He said that there is the prejudice that once it is a comedy, it is not something deep. Vice admitted that he is hurt if people think comedy is just “basura.” He pointed out that it is not easy to do comedy.

When asked if he still feels that he is “unkabogable” even though there was a time when his movie did not top the blockbuster earnings. To recall, in 2019, Miracle in Cell No. 7 was the top earner with PHP426M in gross ticket sales while Vice’s movie The Mall, The Merrier was in second place with PHP323M.
He said that even the time when one is losing, this can still be a winning moment and it is just a matter of perspective. The comedian-host also believed that sometimes one should lose in order to win.
However, Vice Ganda stressed that he is still “unkabogable.” “For me, I am still unkabogable because no one can do the things that I do. Because only I can do the things that I can do,” he said.
