It’s Showtime host Vice Ganda made a play out of the cash prizes that contestants get from the Kapamilya show and those from its Kapuso rival program, Eat Bulaga!
He quipped that Eat Bulaga! gives bigger prizes than It’s Showtime!
This happened in the show’s January 19, 2022 episode during the “Showtime Sexy Babe” segment.
The segment’s contestant, Mary Rose Palma, was narrating about how she was always joining beauty pageants when she was 13 years old, prodding co-hosts Vhong Navarro and Ogie Alcasid to start teasing Vice.
Vice then revealed that in his younger years, he was not allowed to join any kind of contests by his late father.
I had my fair share of losses.”
Ogie then reminded Vice that he used to win singing contests on TV such as in ABS-CBN’s The Singing Bee and in GMA-7’s Eat Bulaga!
Ogie’s comment opened another revelation from Vice: Eat Bulaga! gives bigger prizes than It’s Showtime!
The TV host-comedian said, “O, di ba? Magkano rin iyon, five thousand sa Eat Bulaga!
“Mas mataas talaga magbigay ng premyo ang Eat Bulaga! kaysa Showtime, e!”
When co-host Jugs Jugueta protested, Vice laughingly repeated, “Mas malaki talaga pera doon, e!
“Kahit ako contestant, doon ako sasali, e. Hindi dito. Masaya dito pero maraming pera sa kabila!”
Still laughing to show he was just joking, lest his pronouncement would be taken seriously, Vice assured, “Charot lang! Ang pangit kong host.
“Saan ka nakakita, host ka ng Showtime pero fan ka ng Dabarkads!”
Dabarkads is how Eat Bulaga! calls its loyal viewers.
That was not the first time that Eat Bulaga! figured in Vice’s stories in It’s Showtime.
In 2017, Vice told co-host Anne Curtis that he joined the Eat Bulaga! contest “O Diva,” a singing contest where Vice assumed the name Ingrid Montecarlo.
Vice also does not hide the fact that he watches Eat Bulaga! every now and then, mentioning it was true that he had joined some of its singing contests way before.
He named them, “Ano ba ang mga singing contest sa Eat Bulaga? ‘Birit Queen,’ ‘O Diva,’ ‘Search for the Singing Soldier,’ ‘Doble Kara.’”
