What is Grooming?

 

This was the topic Vice Ganda clarified in the latest episode of It’s Showtime on the “EXpecially For You” segment. This is because the featured guests involved a story where two people have quite a huge age gap.

The story involved a man was courting Miyuki who was then 17 years old.

The former lovers have a 7-year age gap and upon learning the story, the superstar comedian immediately made some clarifications. After consulting to an expert, he shared that what happened to the featured former is not grooming at all.

He said that grooming is not just all about the age gap. It is also about the actions. Several factors must exist like abuse, manipulation, or exploitation. Before the appearance of the former couple, they consulted experts and they said that it’s not a case of grooming.

“Sabi po ng mga psychologists na pinag-anuhan namin, walang grooming sa kanila. Baka may mabasa kayo at least malinaw sa kanila, hindi siya grooming,” Vice explained.

Meanwhile, grooming includes manipulative behaviors that the abuser does to gain the trust of the potential victim who are oftentimes younger kids and teens, and sometimes, vulnerable adults.

Meanwhile, Vice’s new movie caused excitement to many people. After skipping the MMFF 2023, he is now bound to make a new one which will be released this year and directed by Jun Lana.

He admitted previously that he was feeling pressured knowing that he would be working with the award-winning director. However, he also feels the confidence because he knows that Lana is surely going to deliver the kind of movie he wanted to offer to the people.

He said, “Your mother will be mothering again sa mga sinehan. Magbabalik pelikula po tayo para magbigay ng unkabogability sa buong society.”
