Vice Ganda Retracts Apology To Showtime Searchee Axel Cruz, Explains What Happened

VICE GANDA – The main host of It’s Showtime called on the bashers of “EXpecially For You” searcher Christine and searchee Axel Cruz to stop from bashing them.

Every day, countless Filipinos are entertained by the Showtime segment EXpecially For You. In the said segment, a guest usually appears with an ex-lover in the pursuit to find a date among the three (3) searchers. Usually, the episodes hook different reactions from the audience depending on the situations of the guests.

 

In one of the recent episodes of EXpecially For You, searcher Christine appeared on the show and one of the searchees was Axel Cruz. While Axel was not the one chosen by Christine to be her date, a few minute-encounter between them went viral online and elicited different reactions.

Axel approached Christine with a high-five and his face leaned closer to hers. He was called out by Vice Ganda who told him that he must not do it without the permission of Christine. He appeared to be attempting to kiss her which he denied in a post.

Showtime searchee Axel Cruz explained in a post that what he was supposed to do was a “brocode” but she was surprised. He stated that he did not intend to kiss her and he apologized to Christine if she got shocked.

For her part, Showtime searcher Maria Christine explained what happened and assured the public that she did not feel off by what Axel Cruz did. According to her, what she felt was that he probably wants to give her a hug as she was emotional during the segment.

Vice Ganda apologized to the Showtime searchee for his reaction on the “nakaw na halik” issue. However, a few days after he apologized over his reaction, the Unkabogable Star who is the main host of the show retracted his statement.

In an episode of the show, Vice explained that what they did was right as they were only protecting the right of their guest. He stressed that as the main host, it is his responsibility to call out that action that really made her feel off during the segment.

According to Vice Ganda, the hosts, staff, production team, management head, and psychologist of Showtime as well as Axel Cruz and Maria Christine talked. He revealed that the Showtime guest really felt off but they respect her reason for not saying it.

“At since na-off si Christine, naniniwala ako na hindi mali na na-call out namin si Axel dahil karapatan ng isang babae na tumanggi o umalma kung sa pakiwari niya ay hindi siya komportable sa ikikilos ng sino man sa harapan niya,” Vice Ganda said.

The Showtime host said that they will not anymore share the reason of Christine for not admitting in her viral video that she really felt off. He revealed that he and Axel also talked and the searchee found lessons in what happened.

“Let’s stop shaming Christine sa sinasabing napaka-arte mo hindi ka naman maganda. Karapatan po ni Christine iyon, at si Axel bilang tao ay karapatan niya ring matuto at bilang tao. Bigyan natin siya ng pagkakataon na matuto, let’s stop bashing them,” he said.

Vice Ganda further expressed that it is okay with him if the people will bash him. It is also fine with him if the people will say that it is his fault but he is asking the public to stop bashing Axel and Christine.
