Vice Ganda, comedian and host of noontime program It’s Showtime, won the Star Award for Best Male TV Host last Sunday and took the time to dedicate it to his late co-host Franco Hernandez.

Vice Ganda could not attend the ceremony because he was still in New Zealand for co-host Anne Curtis’ wedding. Instead, he asked other members of Franco Hernandez’s boy group Hashtags to accept the award for him.

“Vice wants to dedicate this trophy to our brother and fellow Hashtags member Franco Hernandez,” CK Kieron said in mixed Filipino and English.

He continued with a message to Hernandez and said “And bro, we know you’re watching over us and you will be our angel now. We love you, bro, this is for you.”

Vice Ganda shared a video of the acceptance speech on Instagram yesterday with the caption: “My heart continues to break. This is just so painful. I dedicate my award to you my baby brother Franco.”

Their It’s Showtime co-host Curtis also dedicated a part of her wedding last Sunday to Hernandez. There was a moment of silence during the reception that was followed by a prayer.

The moment of silence was posted on Tim Yap’s Instagram Stories.

Hernandez, 26 years old, was a member of the boy group Hashtags, a regular on It’s Showtime. He died last Saturday when a wave hit a motorboat he and his girlfriend were riding in Davao Occidental.
