Fans of Vice Ganda reacted to a netizen’s point of view about the MMFF 2023 entries

Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda has no entry for the Metro Manila Film Festival 2023 and a netizen appeared to point out the advantage of this.

Vice has done several movies for MMFF in the past. For this year, the comedian-host opted not to make a movie for this year’s festival. As early as July, Vice’s close friend and former manager Ogie Diaz expressed that the Unkabogable Star was not planning to do a movie for the yearend film fest.

Ogie shared that it is because Vice wants to do a different thing. It was said that the comedian was planning to do a movie that was supposed to be released by November, just like his 2016 movie The Super Parental Guardian which became a massive hit.

Not having a Vice Ganda entry this year for the MMFF, a netizen said that this allowed the moviegoers to explore other films.

Netizen @NashNaci0n on X wrote, “The absence of a Vice Ganda or Vic Sotto entry this year allow these type of films to shine and compete at the box office.” The netizen wrote this as a reaction to a post of netizen @dogsgong about the quality of this year’s MMFF entries.

“#MMFF2023 is indeed a revelation that Filipino film makers can pull off caliber films. This year’s entries are like vying for the Oscars Best Picture category: Well-acted, well-directed films. Looking forward to this kind of entries yearly!!” the netizen remarked.

The comment about Vice Ganda’s absence in this year’s film fest did not sit well with his fans. Some pointed out that no one can invalidate the effect of a movie featuring the Unkabogable Star. For some, moviegoers cannot be blamed for choosing the comedy movie of Vice over other entries in the past.
