Unkabogable star Vice Ganda has spoken out about what he believes is a coordinated “demolition job” aimed at undermining ‘It’s Showtime,’ following a series of negative rumors and fake news circulating online about the long-running noontime show and its hosts.

The comedian and TV host addressed the issue during the press conference for ‘It’s Showtime’s’ anniversary, responding to the persistent malicious rumors, including a recent claim that fellow host Jackie Gonzaga is pregnant, with Ion Perez, Vice’s partner, allegedly the father.

This fake news also hinted at a supposed rift between Vice and Ion. Additionally, there were claims that ‘It’s Showtime’ will only air on GMA Network until December 2024, suggesting that the network may not renew its contract.

Vice Ganda directly addressed these issues during the event. “Well, there really was or there really is a demolition job against ‘It’s Showtime.’ Pero hindi naman natin sasabihin kung kanino nanggagaling yun. Yung ginagawa sa social media, demolition job yun, di ba?,” he said. “Nu’ng mga trolls, demolition job yun, eh. Meron silang masamang intensyon at balak kaya demolition job yun.”

He further explained that the show’s success may have attracted negativity from some quarters. “Maaaring kami ay may kakayahan o nasa isang posisyon na gustong maranasan at makuha din ng iba. At para makuha nila yun, kailangan nilang subukan yun ganu’ng ruta. Kailangan natin mabasag at makuha yung kung anong meron sa kanila.”

Despite facing multiple challenges over its 15 years on air, including suspensions from the MTRCB, Vice emphasized the show’s strength and resilience. “We just have to deal with it and we just have to keep on going. Kaming lahat sa dami nang pinagdaanan namin, I believe that our team is strong enough to be able to battle all these negativities, challenges and threats together,” he said. “It will be hard kung hindi kami magkakasama. Kaya yun ang lagi naming pinananatili at tinatawid. Kailangan magkakasama tayo.”

Fellow host Vhong Navarro echoed Vice’s sentiments, acknowledging that while mistakes happen, the team’s overall dedication should not be overshadowed by negativity. “Wala naman talagang perpekto, may mga pagkakamali. Sa dami mong ginawa na tama, isang pagkakamali lang na nagawa mo, ang maaalala lang ng mga tao ay yung isang pagkakamali na yun. Kumbaga, hindi mo maple-please lahat ng tao,” Navarro said.

The rumors about ‘It’s Showtime’ possibly ending its run on GMA Network by December 2024 have sparked mixed reactions online. Some fans believe forces are at play to bring the show down, while others have expressed loyalty to ‘It’s Showtime,’ pledging to follow the show wherever it goes.
