MANILA — KimPau fans can’t seem to move on from the trending love scene between Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino in last week’s episode of “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim?”

The steamy bed scene was a hot topic online. During Chiu’s last interview with ABS-CBN News, the Kapamilya actress admitted, “Mahirap siya, ‘yun na yata ang pinaka-intense kong ginawa for my entire career.”

We caught up with Paulo Avelino before his departure on Friday for the Kapamilya Kalayaan Caravan in Dubai, and he said: “We followed the directions of our director. Medyo awkward at first pero we rehearsed the moments, kung paano ‘yung blocking namin and I think nagawa naman namin.”

Avelino admitted he can never get used to doing those kinds of scenes.

“I always feel awkward sa mga ganyang eksena, so I try to make the environment as comfortable and as safe a possible,” he said.

The scene was shot in multiple takes but both of them were very professional and did the scene comfortably.

“Matagal na rin sa industriya si Kim, pero I think never naman nasasanay ‘yung mga actors natin sa mga ganung klaseng eksena. But I hope she felt safe and I hope she was comfortable with me,” he said.

From the viewers and fans point of view, the scene looked so natural, and that was the goal according to Avelino.

“’Yun talaga ang magic ng cinema or ng acting. ‘Yun ang biggest hurdle para sa akin, kung paano namin gagawin as natural as possible ‘yung mga eksena,” he said.

Chiu gave props, not just to Avelino, but to the whole team who all did their part in making sure the scene was executed with utmost professionalism.

“Ang tagal na rin namin sa industriya ni Paulo so ayaw na magka-burden pa ‘yung set or anybody, we just did what we have to do. Kami as actors ‘yun ang gagawin namin,” she said.

We asked Avelino’s candid reaction when fans started calling the scene “mukbang” or “feast.”

“Sinusundan lang naman namin ‘yung original na actors in the scene. I’m not sure if mas marami ‘yung nandun, pero ayun sinusundan lang namin kung ano yung nasa script and our director,” he said.
