In a recent Showtime episode, “Yormeme” Vice Ganda prohibits “joking”.

VICE GANDA – After receiving backlash from some teachers because of his recitation joke, Vice Ganda has this sarcastic statement.

In a previous article, Kapamilya comedian and TV host, Vice Ganda was criticized by some educators because of his joke about class recitation. In his Yormeme segment in Its Showtime, he mentioned in his joke about issuing an “ordinance” banning teachers from picking students who do not raise their hands during a recitation.

Yormeme was humorously portrayed as a bad politician in the noontime show. But this particular joke in his skit triggered some.

An open letter was written for him by a teacher. A part of the letter said:

“Calling students who are not raising their hands is never wrong and never will be. Let me tell you Vice, there is a technique called ‘Cold Calling’. This was developed by Doug Lemov and can be found in his book ‘Teach Like A Champion’. This effective strategy creates an expectation that all students are ready to answer every question. Guess what? This has been proven to promote attention, engagement, and participation. We strive to encourage active thinking in our classrooms. And it was never made to shame students. Never.”

In his reply, Vice stressed that the teacher seemingly missed that part that it was just a joke, a part of his running joke as a “Yormeme”.

And just recently, in the new episode of the noontime show, Yormeme returns with a “new ordinance”.

His new ordinance “strictly prohibits joke”.

“Ako si Yormeme ay mahigpit kong ipinagbabawal ang pagjo-joke. Bawal ang mag-joke. Ayokong nase-stress ang mga walang sense of humor at sensitive. Nase-stress sila. Kasi na-realize ko hindi pala lahat ng tao may sense of humor. So, kung nagjo-joke ka, paano naman sila?” he expressed.
