Sarah Geronimo had this song rendition that did not sit well with netizens

Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo sang Good Luck, Babe by Chappell Roan on ASAP Natin ‘To but some netizens cried foul over her rendition.

Sarah is one of the most-loved Kapamilya stars of her generation. She started her career in the entertainment industry after winning the television singing competition Star For A Night.

After winning, doors of opportunity in showbiz opened for her. She released songs and albums, had television shows, and made movies. Sarah is also one of the most trusted brand ambassadors of different companies.

However, despite her good image and celebrated achievements, Sarah Geronimo would also sometimes receive negative reactions online, just like what happened recently.

In a recent episode of the Kapamilya Sunday variety musical variety show, Sarah showcased her ability to reach high notes with the song by Chappell Roan. Good Luck, Babe is about the love between two women but one refuses to acknowledge their relationship.

A line in the song says, “You can kiss a hundred boys in bars.” However, when Sarah sang this on ASAP Natin ‘To the lyrics were changed to “You can kiss a hundred girls in bars.”

This did not sit well with some netizens as they pointed out that the song’s intention was to tell the story of two women and they expressed dismay that it was changed. Here are some tweets against Sarah’s performance.

A netizen even said that this is the only thing worthy of being criticized in Sarah’s performance. “It just defeats the whole purpose of the song and goes to show that ang heteronormative pa rin ang mindset and views ng pinas, especially in the media,” the netizen said.
