Lala Sotto speaks about the viral video of her parents Tito Sotto and Helen Gamboa

Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Chair Lala Sotto reacted to the accusation that she is being unfair because of the recent issue involving It’s Showtime and EAT.

To recall, MTRCB summoned the producer of the Kapamilya noontime show because of the gesture of celebrity couple Vice Ganda and Ion Perez while eating the cake icing during the Isip Bata segment. The agency stated that they received complaints for the alleged “inappropriate” gesture that the two hosts did.

However, fans of the Kapamilya noontime show defended that it was just the dirty minds of other people who created that speculation. There were also those who pointed out that Lala Sotto should also summon her parents because there was a portion in EAT in which Tito Sotto kissed Helen Gamboa.

In an interview regarding this issue, based on the article in PEP, the MTRCB Chair stressed that what her parents did was “ehemplo ng mag-asawa.” She also pointed out that what Vice and Ion did was against Section 3 of Presidential Decree No.1986 in which it was stated the shows should have a “general viewing” feature or create a program that is suitable for the general public.

With this, Lala Sotto said that her parents did nothing wrong. She is aware of the comments about her saying that she is being unfair. “Nakarating din po sa amin na meron pong konting mga reklamo na nagsasabi na ako raw po ay unfair, hindi patas, dahil hindi ko raw pinapatawag ang E.A.T.,” the daughter of Tito Sotto said.

She also said that there is no reason for the agency to summon EAT because the program is not deserving of a “notice to appear.”

“Ang binigyan namin ng ‘notice to appear’ ay ang programang Showtime that is Rated PG [Parental Guidance]. It is a live noontime, variety show, that is automatically Rated PG,” Lala Sotto stressed.

She also defended her parents as she said that Tito and Helen, as a married couple, have been doing this kind of “lambingan” on TV for 45 years already.
