Kim recently receiving the prestigious Most Outstanding Asian Star recognition for her iconic role as Juliana Lualhati in “Linlang” at the Seoul International Drama Awards 2024 is another reason for all of us to feel kilig–and proud!
Although we couldn’t be at the KBS Hall, South Korea, last September 25 to cheer her on, Kim has graciously documented her journey through a vlog, making us feel like we were right there with her, as she shared this victory with her followers and fellow Filipinos.
The video opens with stunning shots of South Korea, leading us to a breathtaking display of Kim’s own electronic billboard celebrating her win, organized by her supporters in the bustling neighborhood of Hongdae, Seoul.
Then, we see her arriving at the airport, greeted by adoring fans. One could say the universe conspired in Kim’s favor that day, as she mentioned that she almost didn’t make it on time due to a problem with her documents, which her friend and “It’s Showtime” co-host Ryan Bang helped her resolve. Besides, her arrival was almost delayed due to heavy rain threatening flights. So, talk about a dramatic entrance in Seoul!
Once she stepped into her ride, Kim was met with the ultimate celebrity treatment, accompanied by an interpreter and a Korean staff briefing her on her event schedule. The thrill peaked when she passed by her LED billboard, just five minutes before it closed at midnight. It was a surreal moment, a true testament to her hard work and dedication, and the love and support that her ‘solids’ continue to pour into her life. Before heading to the hotel, Kim couldn’t resist indulging in some mouthwatering Korean street food–the vibe smelled like K-drama!
The next day was the much-awaited award ceremony! Kim started her morning by dropping by a Korean grocery store, thrilled because she had only seen such a place in videos before.
Prep time! She enlisted the help of renowned Korean hairdresser Lee Youngna, known for styling top Korean celebrities, for her big night. Kim’s makeup and wardrobe were expertly crafted for her red carpet look. She was a total stunner in a dreamy, flowing peach-blush gown adorned with tulle details.
Even before stepping into the venue to accept her trophy, Kim’s heart already swelled with gratitude for the support of her showbiz father figure, Star Magic Head Laurenti Dyogi, by her side, who flew all the way to South Korea to escort her. As we know, Direk Lauren has witnessed her growth firsthand in the industry since she auditioned for “Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition,” where she emerged as the Big Winner, in 2006.
The Kapamilya star couldn’t hide her excitement as she stepped into the KBS Hall and granted interviews for Korean broadcast media, KBS. She glowed with radiance while walking the red carpet solo, yet carrying the hearts of her fans and proud Filipinos who were one with her in this huge achievement for the Philippine entertainment scene.
“Sobrang cute ko!” she exclaimed, with tears of joy as she sat backstage with Direk Lauren, reviewing her red carpet walk and interview, eagerly awaiting the award ceremony. “It feels so different to attend this kind of event with different artists from all over Asia,” she shared in her voice-over for the vlog, talking about the famous faces on the occasion.
And, then, the moment Kim was called on stage as one of the recipients of the “Most Outstanding Asian Star” Award was nothing short of magical. In her heartfelt speech, our favorite ‘chinita’ got emotional as she shared the honor with her fans and the talented individuals she has worked with, including her ABS-CBN and Star Magic family, co-stars, and the brilliant creatives behind “Linlang,” who made this recognition possible. The most poignant seconds came when she dedicated the award to the late Dreamscape Entertainment Head, Deo Endrinal, acknowledging his mentorship and guidance in her journey. The appreciation she expressed truly resonated with the audience!

After such an achievement, a bit of a festivity was definitely in order! Kim enjoyed her time exploring the lively streets and delectable restaurants of Seoul, even meeting some fellow Pinoys along the way.
