Karylle Admits She Felt Fear For It’s Showtime’s Status (ch)

Karylle shared her thoughts on what happened to their noontime show

Singer-host Karylle admitted that she felt fear for the status of the Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime as its contract with TV5 ends on June 30.

Since ABS-CBN was not able to renew its franchise, the Kapamilya shows are just being aired on digital platforms. The Lopez-owned media company was able to secure a partnership with the Kapatid network for some of its shows including It’s Showtime

However, as the contract for the noontime slot ends, TV5 opted to give to the slot to TVJ’s show. Previously, the Kapatid network stated that they had this decision because, with the show of the iconic trio, they are already partners, unlike with It’s Showtime which is only a block timer.

This uncertainty of what will happen to their show brought fear to Karylle. In a recent interview with The Philippine Star, admitted that they feared what’s going to be the next chapter of their show.

“There’s always, what do you call this, fear that you don’t know what the future is like. Kasi noong una, so paano na? It was a big question mark,” the singer-host said.

Fortunately, that fear did not linger for too long because ABS-CBN was able to strike a deal with GTV which is owned by GMA Network. This made the It’s Showtime hosts very happy.

“But when we found that we have a new home, then, everything looked brighter, ‘di ba? So when the question mark was answered, then, of course, we had a renewed hope,” Karylle said.

Starting July 1, the Kapamilya show will be aired on GTV. However, the singer-host will not be able to be in the show on this day because of her upcoming show “Isang Gabi ng Sarsuwela” at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez or CCP Black Box.

This is set to happen on June 30 and July 1. Karylle expressed gratitude to her fellow It’s Showtime host for supporting her other passion. “They’re very, very supportive. They’ve been promoting the show. Ever since we started doing theater again or the theater doors opened, when we did ‘Carousel’ (another show) here, they’ve been extra supportive, even coming in such big groups to watch. Mga van-van sila dito na dumating,” she shared.

This makes her so happy because her fellow hosts understand that she has a big heart for theater.
