Veteran television host Joey de Leon took to his Instagram account two hours before the airing of ‘Eat Bulaga’ on Friday to provide context to his statements made during their midday show on Wednesday.

Beginning his explanation in an Instagram reel, the Henyo Master emphasized, “Ito’y para lang matapos ‘yung mga usap-usapan.”

Joey was quick to dispel any misconceptions, stating, “Unang-una, hindi namin kaaway ang ‘It’s Showtime’, ‘yung ‘Showtime’ matagal na naming kapitbahay ‘yon . Hindi rin nila kami tinitira, hindi namin sila tinitira..”

He clarified that his grievances, along with former Senate President Tito Sotto’s, were directed at individuals who engage in social media commentary and those with programming. Joey elaborated that when they expressed frustration on ‘Eat Bulaga,’ it was in reference to these individuals. He challenged them, stating that if they could endure for 15 years, as ‘It’s Showtime’ has, then his remarks might hold weight. Importantly, he stressed, “It’s not ‘Showtime’!”

Acknowledging the 15th anniversary of the Kapamilya noontime show, Joey extended felicitations, affirming their appreciation for ‘Showtime’ as a fellow mainstay in the television landscape.

“Ang pinapatungkulan namin ni Tito (Sotto) noong nagalit kami sa ‘Eat Bulaga’ eh ‘yung mga nagpo-post sa social media, ‘yung mga nagpo-programa. Kaya hinamon ko, 15 years kung tatagal ‘yung mga nagpo-post na ‘yon. Hindi iyon ‘Showtime’!”

In a gesture of transparency, Joey reiterated that ‘It’s Showtime’ was not the subject of criticism in their segment ‘Gimme 5: Laro ng mga Henyo.’

Furthermore, he affirmed his commitment to a previous statement, expressing his intention to kneel down if those responsible for spreading gossip on social media and disseminating fake news online reached a milestone of 15 years.

Joey felt compelled to address the issue promptly to prevent further escalation of the matter. He observed that many had weighed in, unwittingly fanning tensions between the two noontime programs.

Additionally, Joey took the opportunity to highlight the global recognition earned by ‘Eat Bulaga’ as one of the Top 5 Longest Running shows worldwide.

The response from netizens was largely supportive of Joey’s clarification, with many echoing sentiments that it was improbable for ‘It’s Showtime’ to be the intended target of his remarks, given the lack of opposition from the Madlang People noontime show’s camp.

In other news related to ‘Eat Bulaga,’ preparations are underway for Vic Sotto’s advance birthday celebration, scheduled for this Saturday. Reports suggest that a plethora of surprise guests is in store for the occasion.

During last Saturday’s prelude celebration on ‘EB,’ Ice Seguerra made a memorable appearance as Aiza, donning a striking red ensemble complete with wig and makeup. Expectations are high for this Saturday’s festivities at the TV5 studio, promising an even more extravagant affair.
