Is it true that GMA has the right to terminate its contract with It’s Showtime?

Rumor has it that the contract between Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime and GMA Network is just for 6 months only.

On March 20, the historic contract signing between the Kapamilya show and the Kapuso network happened. Previously, the show led by Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda has been airing on GTV since last year.

The show had the chance to have a wider audience now that it will start airing on GMA on April 6, Saturday, which is also a birthday celebration of Vice.

Based on the article by entertainment writer Salve Asis in Pilipino Star Ngayon, it is expected that It’s Showtime will have an explosive launch on GMA. A watch party will be at Ynarez Center, in Antipolo, Rizal.

The Bida Kapamilya event will start at 8 am until 3 pm. Performances from PPop group BINI and stars of the Kapamilya series Can’t Buy Me Love such as Joao Constancia, Vivoree, Albie Casiño, and Gello Marquez will entertain the audience.

There will be performances from Tawag ng Tanghalan season 7 grand champion Rea Gen Villareal and TNT alumni Anthony Castillo and Lorraine Galvez as well. They will be the judge of TNT in the Barangay singing contest.

This event is made special because of It’s Showtime‘s first airing on GMA. However, Asis shared an intriguing rumor about the Kapamilya show. She said that it was rumored that the show’s current contract is just for six months but it’s renewable. The writer also mentioned that rumor has it that the Kapuso network has the option to terminate the contract.

“Pero totoo bang may option diumano to terminate ang GMA 7 sa contract nila? Or totoo rin bang six months lang ang contract nila sa GMA pero renewable?” Asis wrote in her article.

As of this writing, the Kapamilya noontime show and the Kapuso network haven’t reacted yet to these rumors.
