ABS-CBN Carlo Katigbak Confirms He Contacted GMA First For It’s Showtime confirmed that he contacted GMA first through GMA Network Senior Vice President for Programming, Talent Management, Worldwide, and Support Group, and President of GMA Films, Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes for It’s Showtime.

The Kapamilya show had to find a new home as TV5’s noontime slot was given to Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon’s new show with the Dabarkads. It’s Showtime’s contract with the Kapatid network will end on June 30.

Since ABS-CBN did not agree to the afternoon time slot offered to It’s Showtime because they maintain that it is a noontime show loved by the viewers, the media company looked for a new home.

Previously, Annette Gozon-Valdes shared that it was the Kapamilya network that contacted GMA first.

The contract signing between GMA and ABS-CBN happened on June 28. During the media conference, Carlo Katigbak confirmed that he contacted GMA to ask if it can provide a new home for It’s Showtime, based on the article in GMA Entertainment.

He said that after the partnership they had for the Unbreak My Heart series, he did not expect that this will be followed immediately with another partnership.

“So nu’ng nabalitaan namin na gustong ilipat ang timeslot ng It’s Showtime, tinawagan namin si Annette para pag-usapan ang posibilidad na mabigyan ng bagong tahanan ang aming programa. After that, in just less than two weeks, we were again welcomed to [GMA],” the ABS-CBN executive said.

With this, Katigbak expressed gratitude to GMA executives for welcoming them. “Thank you for your kindness, GMA. Marami na ang napagdaanan ng mga Kapamilya natin sa It’s Showtime, nagpapasalamat din kami sa lahat ng Showtime hosts at sa buong Showtime family dahil hindi kayo bumitaw, hindi kayo sumuko sa pagbibigay saya at serbisyo,” he said.

Carlo Katigbak also said that all of these are for the Madlang People and they are happy that the Kapamilya noontime show will continue to provide happiness and laughter.

GTV will start airing It’s Showtime on July 1, the same day when TVJ and the Dabarkads will launch their noontime show on TV5.
