Controversy arose in the Iloilo visit of Gretchen Barretto and Atong Ang
Former actress Gretchen Barretto and businessman Atong Ang visited Iloilo last November 8, and this is under investigation due to this reason.
Gretchen’s closeness with Atong has been a topic of past controversies. Allegations surfaced that they are sharing a romantic relationship due to their photos together that circulated online.

However, they both clarified that they are friends and business partners and that their families are also close to each other. Just recently, Gretchen and Atong once again went controversial but it is not about their alleged relationship.
Based on the article from PEP, they went to Janiuay, Iloilo for a dialogue with local cockfighting operators for their plan to have an online “sabong”. Janiuay Mayor Bienvenido Margarico said that the two went to the municipal hall for a courtesy call.

A post on the Facebook post of Brigada News FM Kalibo stated that this stirred up controversy because of the alleged quarantine protocol violation. Amid the pandemic, mass gathering is still not allowed in order to ensure the safety of the public.
However, it was said that the Iloilo visit of Gretchen Barretto and Atong Ang prompted a “crowd gathering”. Based on the article, the provincial government was not informed regarding this matter.

Atty. Suzette Mamon, provincial administrator of Iloilo, said “In so far as the province of Iloilo is concerned, wala kami gin-inform officially or in any capacity.”
She added that they are currently investigating what dialogue did Gretchen and Atong attended to. “I would just like to make a clarification on that because we are still checking on what gathering transpired,” Mamon added.
