Fans of Coco Martin were surprised that he was not included in the Summer MMFF Best Actor nominees

Seasoned actress Dolly de Leon reacted to people questioning why Kapamilya star Coco Martin was not nominated for Summer Metro Manila Film Festival Best Actor category.

Coco is the lead actor in the family movie Apag which is directed by Brillante Mendoza, who is also the director of his first indie film. Previously, the director revealed that the lead male role was initially offered to Aljur Abrenica.

Due to some circumstances, Aljur was not able to do the project. Direk Brillante shared that he was thankful that Coco said yes to this project without hesitation. The movie genre is different from the action-packed series that he has been doing these past few years.

Apag somehow showed the different side of Coco Martin as an actor and this will be memorable as it is included in the first-ever Summer MMFF. However, apparently, there were fans who were dismayed by the fact that the Kapamilya actor was not nominated for the Best Actor category.

Entertainment columnist Jun Lalin shared in his recent article in Abante that Dolly de Leon, the jury chair of Summer MMFF was asked about this. She stressed that even though Coco was not nominated, it does not mean that he was discounted.

The seasoned actress also shared that it was not easy for them to come up with a list of nominees in every category. To the people who reacted to Coco Martin’s non-inclusion in the list of Best Actor nominees, Dolly said, “Unfortunately you can’t please everybody!”
