Angel Reese’s rookie season is over.

The Chicago Sky forward unfortunately sustained a wrist injury against the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday and will have to sit out the rest of the way.

Reese took to social media to announce as much late Saturday night.

“What a year,” she wrotep. “I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol.

“I’m filled with emotions right now that I have a season ending injury, but also filled with so much gratitude for what is next. Although this is God’s timing and not mine, I am finally able to give myself a physical and mental break. ‘God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.’”

Angel Reese Had An Impressive First Season In The WNBA

Angel Reese’s rookie campaign has been nothing short of sensational. Drafted as the No. 7 overall pick earlier this year, she hit several milestones with the Sky, recording 26 double-doubles, the second most for a single season in WNBA history. She registered 15 of them consecutively.

The former LSU star has also registered the most rebounds in a WNBA season, proving to be a beast on the boards.

Reese’s first-season stats bear averages of 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game. She was named an All-Star ahead of the Olympics and has been firmly lodged in the Rookie of the Year race all season.

The Sky had her listed as questionable ahead of Sunday’s clash vs. the Dallas Wings, but it appears the injury is not one she will be able to play through.
