During a segment of the Kapamilya noontime variety show It’s Showtime, Vice Ganda clarified that they are no longer expecting a franchise. He stressed that their previous franchise is now owned by another entity. The broadcast frequency previously held by ABS-CBN was taken over by a company owned by business tycoon Manny Villar.
“Wala na po kaming hinahabol na dating prangkisa dahil ang prangkisa namin ay may nagmamay-ari na at pagmamay-arian nila iyan ng ilang dekada,” the Unkabogable Star said.
Furthermore, during the said It’s Showtime segment, Vice Ganda clarified that ABS-CBN did not apply for another franchise. He stressed that it is clear that the network is no longer after any franchise. The comedian encourages the “trolls” to move on as the said chapter is already done. Meanwhile, according to him, a lot of people working for the network may be returning to work as they are working on a lot of projects that can be aired in several different platforms.
