Is it true that It’s Showtime will continue to air on GMA?

Rumor has it that Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime is set to renew its contract with GMA Network.

ABS-CBN continues to produce shows even though it no longer has a television franchise. These past years, the media company has become a content provider for other TV networks. Kapamilya shows can now be watched on GMA, GTV, and TV5. Some of its shows are also being aired on ALLTV, aside from different online platforms.

Showtime had the chance to occupy the noontime slot of GMA earlier this year. This made the fans of the show so happy that they can now be watched on more platforms.

However, these past months, rumors have been circulating that It’s Showtime will only air on GMA Network until December this year. Allegedly, the show’s contract will end, and the Kapuso network is considering other shows. It was rumored that the morning variety show TicktoClock would occupy the noontime slot.

However, sources from the morning variety show debunked the rumors that they will replace the Kapamilya noontime show.

Last month, GMA senior vice president Annette Gozon-Valdes spoke about this issue. She said that they are still negotiating with It’s Showtime. There was still no final decision yet.

In a recent article published by Pilipino Star Ngayon entertainment writer Salve Asis, a source revealed that the Kapamilya noontime show is set to renew its contract with GMA Network.

“Narinig ko na sure na sure na diumano ang pagre-renew ng contract ng It’s Showtime sa GMA 7 for another year,” the entertainment writer shared.

However, Asis said that there will still be a discussion about when the renewal will happen. She added that as of now, it is still impossible for TAPE Inc. to return because the production company still needs to pay its debt.

Previously, TAPE was the producer of the longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga but the iconic trio Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and the rest of the Dabarkads decided to leave. Then, TAPE produced its own noontime show which initially used the Eat Bulaga title and eventually changed to Tahanang Pinakamasaya.
