After the MTRCB denied the motions of reconsideration of It’s Showtime, Bong Revilla made this appeal.
Senator Bong Revilla asked the Office of the President (OP) to consider the situation of the workers after the appeals of ABS-CBN and GMA got junked.
With the number of complaints, the Movie Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) received regarding the cake incident of hosts Vice Ganda and Ion Perez, a suspension of 12 days for It’s Showtime has been ordered.
Many people were saddened and lots of hearts went out for the employees who will lose their income once the suspension begins. In a statement released by ABS-CBN regarding this matter, they assured the madlang people that they are going to explore remedies and options. And while the decision is not final yet, the show continues to air.
After the appeals had been denied by the MTRCB, Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. filed an appeal to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to reconsider the decision as this will accordingly deeply affect the workers, especially those who are under the “no work, no pay” policy.
“Without getting into the merits of the case, the MTRCB should be able to consider the welfare of all the staff and crew [working in the show] who had nothing to do with the cited reason why the show was suspended,” Revilla said in a statement.
The senator believes that the fault of one is not the fault of everyone. And once these workers lose the opportunity to earn with the 12-day suspension, they would also lose the means to put food on their tables.
In a press release, Revilla expressed that ABS-CBN and GMA can both file an appeal to the Office of the President using the 15-day period allowed following the junking of the motions for reconsideration.
“I think lessons have been learned,” the lawmaker added believing that “humanitarian considerations should be given importance”.
