MANILA — A short skit on “It’s Showtime” on Thursday produced an incredibly awkward moment for Vice Ganda as it ended with a fan name-dropping Terrence Romeo in front of the comedian.
It all began when Vice Ganda joked that he fancies Zanjoe Marudo, who was making a guest appearance on the show to promote “My Dear Heart,” prompting co-host Vhong Navarro to come up with a sketch where a member of the audience will pretend to be the mom of the “Beauty and the Bestie” star.
Navarro then asked Marudo to act out a “pamamanhikan” scene.
But just as Marudo readied his charm to win over Vice Ganda’s “mother,” the woman who was picked to play the part quipped: “Zanjoe, huwag kang magagalit pero boto ako kay Terrence.”
The joke left Vice Ganda visibly stunned, and Navarro in an apologetic mood. “Alam mo Vhong, iyong mga naiisip mo, hindi ko talaga alam,” Karylle said afterwards as everyone tried to laugh it off.
Ever the sport, Vice Ganda played along and referenced a scuffle between Romeo and LA Tenorio during the quarterfinals of the 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Wednesday night, which led to flagrant foul penalty 2 call for Romeo.
“Hi LA. I Love you, LA!” he said.
Back in 2014, rumors were rife about Vice Ganda and Romeo’s relationship after the comedian posted a cryptic breakup tweet that emphasized the letters T and R, which fans believe are the initials of the basketball star. Both, however, denied the rumors.
