‘You’ve given all you’ve got, but still get no for an answer.’

Alden Richards got real about a lot of things in his recent exclusive dressing room interview on Tonight With Boy Abunda.

When asked about the hardest thing he’s ever endured in his life, Alden opened up about rejection.

“Siguro po, Tito Boy, from that 10-year journey, even yung way before show business, it’s really the struggle of rejection,” Alden said. “You’ve tried so many times, you’ve given all you’ve got, but still get no for an answer. Mas marami po yung ‘no.’”

Alden didn’t reveal exactly what type of rejection he experienced.

When Boy Abunda asked Alden about how he deals with extreme encounters with fans, Alden shared that “it’s never easy,” even recalling an experience from a fan who wanted him to marry the fan’s daughter.”

“May mga ganyan po kasi sometimes, [fans] will approach me and ire-reto po yung mga—knowing that I’m single now, Tito Boy, ire-reto po yung anak nila.”

Boy Abunda reacted to Alden saying he’s “single now,” asking him when his last relationship was. Alden shared this was when he was still back in college.

When asked if he’s fallen in love with an actress, Alden confirmed that he has, actually. Boy Abunda asked why they didn’t end up becoming an item.

“Siguro po parang there’s a point in a relationship and in life, Tito Boy, sometimes na no matter how strong the feelings [are] towards a person, minsan hindi talaga
kayo nagkakaintindihan.”

Fans couldn’t help but notice their closeness to one another. In June 2013, Alden unfollowed Julie Anne on Twitter and Instagram for “personal reasons,” but claimed they remained friends. The two were reported to not speak to each other after being linked to one another. In 2015, they would get to set aside their issues and work together again on various projects. Alden and Julie Anne are currently both part of the variety show Sunday PINASaya.

As we all know, Alden would, later on, become the “Pambansang Bae,” with his wildly popular tandem with his former love team partner, Maine Mendoza, on noontime show Eat Bulaga! 

In a letter to her fans in 2017, Maine set the record straight and said that she and Alden are just friends. In January 2018, Maine unfollowed and followed Alden again on Instagram, apologizing to fans in a tweet, “No bad blood here. Napindot lang talaga.”

Maine is currently in a relationship with actor Arjo Atayde.

Alden has been busy promoting his latest movie with Kathryn Bernardo, Hello, Love, Goodbye. The movie is about two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Hong Kong.

He described working with Kathryn as “ang gaan” and “organic.”

“Nothing was forced, walang pilitan,” Alden shared. “We don’t have to do anything off-cam to make the onscreen chemistry work. That’s the beauty of working with a new pair, of two strangers, Tito Boy.”
