‘Joy is gone’: Kathryn Bernardo, Alden Richards share tense moment in ‘Hello, Love, Again’ teaser (PO)

After saying their hellos and goodbyes in the unforgettable first film “Hello, Love, Goodbye”, fans are eagerly waiting to see what’s next for Joy (Kathryn Bernardo) and Ethan (Alden Richards) in the highly anticipated film sequel, “Hello, Love, Again”.

What will they have to say to each other this time around?

Viewers will have to wait until November 13 to find out when the film, once again directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana, hits theaters. But here’s a little treat to hold us over!

The third teaser, which dropped on September 25, gives us a glimpse of where Joy and Ethan stand five years after their emotional farewell in Hong Kong. The teaser answers three big questions: Did Joy finally make it to Canada? Did they stay in touch? And, most importantly, where do they stand now?

Let’s start with the first question. It doesn’t take long to discover that Joy did indeed achieve her dream of migrating to Canada, a goal she had been working towards since her days as a domestic helper in Hong Kong.

But what about Ethan? He stayed behind in Hong Kong, just as we expected. After all, the first movie made it clear that Ethan needed to remain there to secure his permanent residency.

Distance, however, didn’t stop them from trying to make their relationship work. Their final hurrah in Hong Kong wasn’t final after all! But as the teaser shows, their long-distance relationship was anything but smooth sailing.

In one heart-wrenching moment, Ethan is seen holding back tears as he asks Joy how many more goodbyes they’ll have to say before they can finally build a life together.

But if they promised each other, “And we’re now making that future happen,” could this mean Joy and Ethan are finally on the path to a happy ending, together in the same place?

Well, when we see Ethan land at a Canadian airport and reunite with Joy, it seems like they might finally be together.

That’s where the teaser takes a dramatic turn and reveals a palpable tension between the two.

A scene in what appears to be a coffee shop shows us Joy, now preferring to be called by her second name, Marie, ordering “one hot Americano, tall.” Attending to her is the barista, Ethan, working alongside Jhim (Joross Gamboa), his former co-worker from Hong Kong.

When Ethan writes “Joy” on her cup, she quickly corrects him, telling him to put “Marie” instead.

The tension escalates as Joy coldly states, “Joy is gone.” Ethan remains speechless and just looks on at Joy with a heartbroken countenance.

What could she mean? How is Joy gone, and why? And, most importantly, what does this mean for her and Ethan’s future? How did they go from being so hopeful for a future together to an icy distance, even when they’re finally in the same place?

So many questions, and we’re only two months away from getting all the answers! Mark your calendars as “Hello, Love, Again” hits theaters on November 13, and we’ll finally get to see how Joy and Ethan’s continuing love story unfolds.
