MANILA — “Hello, Love, Again,” the hit movie starring Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards, has made box-office record, grossing an unprecedented P131 million in a single day last Saturday, November 16.
The film has now reached P566 million as of Monday, November 18.
“We’re so blessed because binigyan ng mga tao ng chance yung pelikula namin at lahat ng nare-receive namin. Wala na kaming mahihiling pa,” Kathryn said.
“Maraming salamat sa pagmamahal at suporta na binibigay niyo sa amin at sa pelikula. No words can express how grateful we are for the turnout and we’re very happy na maraming naka-appreciate nito,” Alden added.
Kathryn and Alden will attend the Asian World Film Festival, wherein “Hello, Love, Again” will serve as the closing film.
Hours before their flight, the two spoke about their excitement for the event.
“We are very honored and privileged po that Hello, Love, Again is part of the AWFF,” Alden said during an interview at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. “Maraming salamat po for the recognition, and we are just really excited to bring Hello, Love, Again to the international scene.”
Kathryn echoed Richards’ sentiments, expressing pride in the film’s global reach.
“We are very proud na gawang Pinoy ang ipapakita natin not just here but in LA,” she said. “This is the first time na mangyayari yun, so it’s us representing GMA Pictures and Star Cinema. Nakaka-proud lang na kaya pala natin yun. Sana magustuhan nila.”
“Hello, Love, Again” also made history with its opening weekend gross in the United States. According to entertainment site Deadline, the film earned $2.4 million during its debut weekend, securing the no. 8 spot in the US box office—a record for a Filipino movie.
“Every day pa-good news ng pa-good news. It’s incredible, surreal, and hard to put into words. Siguro, salamat! Grabe ang pasasalamat namin. We didn’t expect this level of support,” Kathryn said.
“On the way here lang na-post nila yung milestone,” she said. “All for Him lahat ng nangyayari. It’s just amazing to see how far the film has come.”
‘Hello, Love, Again’ sets record for Filipino film in US
As the film achieves global acclaim, the team behind “Hello, Love, Again” is also making a meaningful impact. Kathryn and Alden announced that a portion of the film’s proceeds would be donated to victims of recent typhoons in the Philippines.
“Gusto naman natin all the time makatulong sa mga nangangailangan,” Alden said. “This is our small way of helping out sa mga nangyaring tragedy in the past weeks.”
“Grabe kasi yung blessings na natatanggap namin. Nakakatuwa kasi ABS-CBN and GMA Pictures decided to share and give back. This is what it’s all about,” Kathryn said.
