Before she was putting up historic numbers in the WNBA, Caitlin Clark burst on the scene in college at Iowa. The rookie sensation recently showed love to one of her former teammates, who is beginning a new journey outside of basketball.

Seeing that they spent most of their college careers together, Clark grew very close to Gabbie Marshall. Following a five-year run at Iowa, the 5-foot-9 guard decided to go a different route professionally. Over the weekend, Marshall announced that she is starting a podcast to talk about her life in basketball.

Numerous people congratulated Marshall on this new venture, including Caitlin Clark. The Indiana Fever guard commented on the post to let her former teammate know she’ll be subscribing to the show.

Marshall spent five seasons at Iowa from 2020 to 2024. She put up consistent numbers during her time in college, with her sophomore campaign being the standout year. In that season, she averaged 9.1 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.9 steals.

Following a run at Iowa where she broke countless records, expectations for Caitlin Clark entering the WNBA were through the roof. Despite the massive amount of hype around her, the No. 1 pick has managed to deliver an impressive rookie campaign.

This season, Clark has given superb performances to prove she is going to be a superstar in the league for years to come. Among her top feats include posting multiple triple-doubles and setting a new single-game record in assists.

Caitlin Clark’s scoring was on full display at Iowa, but in the WNBA, she’s proven she’s an elite playmaker as well. With a handful of games left in the season, she is on track to break the single-season rookie record for assists.

Given her usual production, Clark should break this record with ease. She currently leads all players in assists per game at 8.5. On top of this, she has notched double-digit assists in four of her last five games.

Along with chasing another record, Clark is also trying to help improve the Fever’s playoff position. They have a sizable lead on sixth place with a 19-17 record, but if things go their way down the stretch, Indiana might be able to jump past Seattle Storm (21-14) to fifth.

Breaking the assist record would add another historic feat to Clarks’ long list of achievements this season. With all she’s been able to accomplish in year one, she looks well on her way to taking home Rookie of the Year honors.
