Jordan Adams is just the right fit for San Miguel in the ongoing PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup.
Eight-time Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo had this to say in the aftermath of the Beermen’s 111-107 win over Phoenix in their season opener at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday, Aug. 21.
While Fajardo starred for San Miguel with a staggering 37 points and 24 rebounds, Adams held his own with 24 markers and nine boards.
“’Yung import namin, sobrang galing niya. Hindi siya ‘yung flashy na import pero sobrang effective niya. ‘Yun ‘yung kailangan namin,” said Fajardo of Adams.
Adams was a last-minute replacement for Lithuanian Tauras Jogela who reportedly failed to make the height limit.
The former Memphis Grizzly stepped up with 10 points in the final period including a graceful layup against two defenders with 1:53 left for a 104-99 Beermen lead.
He also tallied four assists and four steals in his debut.
His unselfish play allowed San Miguel to distribute the ball well and Fajardo to shine.
“Maganda ‘yung pasahan namin ng bola. Maganda ang execution. May mga tira kaming hindi pumapasok. Pero maganda naman ‘yung pasahan namin. Maganda ‘yung execution. [May] kaunting lapses [lang],” Fajardo said.
