Denise Julia’s creative director clarifies singer's tardiness to podcast

It’s a big, busy Christmas for Denise Julia and her team.

After the “B.A.D.” singer broke her social media detox to address the controversial cancelled shoot with renowned photographer BJ Pascual, her creator director Carissa King went on her Instagram Stories to clarify allegations of tardiness made by Killa Kush during the BJ episode.

Reposted by Denise, Carissa posted a series of Instagram Stories to “clarify a few statements.”

“As I reached out to [Kush] regarding false statements that aired publicly, it’s just right to speak up and correct the misinterpretation on that podcast,” Carissa said.

In her next video post, Carissa disclosed that she did not get any replies from Kush after messaging her about her planned statements.

According to Carissa, she accompanied Denise to the podcast, and was in touch with Kush’s team throughout the whole guesting.

She shared that the original schedule was August 13, “but due to unforeseen mental and physical health emergencies, Denise had to cancel.”

“We were able to communicate it directly to Kush, and so she rescheduled the guesting to August 14, Wednesday, day after,” she said. The plan was, Denise would go on a solo interview followed by a solo interview with her [Carissa], and finally an interview of them together.

They were asked to come at 4:30pm. “We got ready four hours before,” Carissa narrated, and left for the studio at 3pm because according to their ride-hailing service, their travel would only take an hour.

“Although due to heavy traffic, it caused a delay on our ETA in which it was really out of our control, and we were in real time updating the group chat with actual photos about our ETA,” Carissa explained.

They eventually arrived at 6:42 p.m. Carissa said, “We were late for two hours and 12 minutes and not beyond that in which we were very apologetic for in person and in chat.”

“So this totally debunks the statement that we were four hours late,” Carissa said, adding the singer offered to pay for the whole cost of the studio.

Addressing comments that said they did not look prepared or presentable for the podcast, Carissa said they fit the color scheme of the shoot and had light makeup. She and Denise also practiced their answers the night before.

Carissa made sure to mention that she is a fan of the podcast as it tackles topics on life, womanhood, and career but “the recent podcasts being uploaded right now is slowly taking turns in terms of principles and what should and should not be highlighted on certain topics, such as blind items, gossips described as teas, and honestly, past issues between two people that should have been resolved privately, because personally, this can be deceiving and can alter a person’s mental health.”

Carissa also said that they had always supported Kush and her media and marketing company, Good Gang.

“And so for her to completely say false statements on her recent podcast, single-handedly picking out Denise’s so-called issues is very disheartening and deeply unfair,” Carissa said.

Carissa reiterated that the situation should not have been aired in public, “as it seemed, very mutually understood on both sides.”

“We are all continuously growing and learning in this industry, not just as creatives, but as human beings, and it’s just as important for us to correct each other,” she said.

In the BJ Pascual episode, where the veteran photographer said Denise was the most stressful personality he had to work with, Kush revealed that Denise canceled her first podcast appearance and then arrived four hours late on the rescheduled date.

“So here’s the situation. The shoot day for the podcast, she canceled [on the] day of. May set na, may photo, everything is ready,” Kush said.

Kush then decided to reschedule the shoot.

“Because of the hassle she’s put me through so many times, I’m like, I’m not gonna let this one go. So pinush ko talaga,” the influencer said.

“Like no eme, just give me your time and that’s it. And that same day, she was still late four hours,” Kush said.

“Natulog na ‘ko sa couch. As in nagkumot na ‘ko dito,” she added. “Kasi parang at this point, I didn’t wanna go home and be like, sige okay, cancel. I was really like, no. I’m gonna wait for you right now and we are gonna podcast the sh-t out of today.”

Denise broke her silence on Christmas Day in a series of Instagram Stories, sharing screenshots and video explanations.
