‘Proud lola’ Pokwang reveals daughter Ria Mae already has a child

The month of April saw the deportation of her former partner Lee O’Brian, who she had broken up with in 2021. Pokwang issued a statement on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda saying that O’Brian’s deportation was the best for them, as it would allow her former partner to pursue work.

Back in September, Pokwang announced her food business, Mamang Pokwang’s Gourmet , which she would start with daughter Ria Mae. Mamang Pokwang’s Gourmet would eventually launch in October.

During Pokwang’s latest guesting on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda , she went with her daughter Ria Mae and revealed that she was already a grandmother.

Pokwang and her daughter Ria Mae were the guests on the latest episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, with King of Talk Boy Abunda welcomed the two to the show.

Booming business

The conversation quickly shifted to the Pokwang and Ria Mae’s holiday plans, with Pokwang revealing that the success of their food business has led them to postponing any travel plans for the holidays.

“Kakaopen lang ng negosto namin nung October so kahit gustuhin man naming mag out of town muna, sa bahay muna kami kasi sayang ‘yung orders. Beautiful problem ‘yun,” Pokwang shared.

Pokwang also shared that she still continues to prepare food for her departed son Shin, who had died due to a brain ailment when she was working in Abu Dhabi.

“December 4 kasi ang birthday niya. Mahilig siya sa spaghetti and fried chicken nung nabubuhay pa siya. Mas sine-celebrate ko ‘yung birthday niya kesa dun sa tinatawag na death anniversary,” she said. “Bakit mo ice-celebrate ‘yung death anniversary. ‘Yun nga ‘yung the saddest day of your life. Kinakausap ko siya kapag may pinagdadaanan. Kausap ko siya bago matulog.”

Broken promise

Tito Boy Abunda also asked Ria Mae about her relationship with Pokwang’s former partner, Lee O’Brian. Ria revealed that she was angry with O’Brian because he broke his promise to her when he and Pokwang became an item.

“Nung umpisa, I told him na ingatan niya ‘yung mama ko kasi for 21 years kaming dalawa lang. Wala kaming ibang kasama sa buhay. Ang gusto ko lang ay ingatan niya si mama at huwag niyang sasaktan. Pinanghawakan ko pero in the end he broke his promise,” she said.

Pokwang also said that if the time came that Malia, her child with Lee O’Brian, would ask about her father, she would tell her the unvarnished truth.

“Sasabihin ko kung ano ‘yung totoong nangyari. Wala akong tinatago sa mga anak ko. Walang kulang, walang sobra. Lahat ilalatag ko sa kanila,” she said. “’Yung tao, ever since, hindi nag-sorry, hindi marunong tumanggap ng pagkakamali. No remorse at all, kahit noong na-deport na siya.”

Grandchild reveal

Pokwang also revealed on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda that she is now the grandmother to a four-year-old boy named Gabriel. Pokwang explained that Gabriel was a pandemic baby.

“It’s another blessing. I have a four-year-old, super cute, another blessing ng buhay ko. Another reason na ipagdasal ko ‘yung sarili ko na humaba pa ‘yung buhay ko para Makita ko ‘yung paglaki. Super cute na bata, super talion. I’m a proud lola,” she said while crying.

Conflict

While Pokwang had no trouble with Ria getting pregnant out of wedlock, Lee O’Brian apparently wanted to throw Ria out of the house because of it.

“Hindi ako nagalit kasi sabi ko naman maka-graduate lang siya masaya na ako. Sinunod naman niya ako. Nakapagtrabaho siya. Hindi siya naging sakit na ulong anak,” Pokwang recalled. “Noong nalaman ko na she’s pregnant hindi ako nagalit. Hindi ko siya sinumbatan. ‘yung isa pa nga ang gusto siyan palayasin.”

“He wanted me out of the house and I don’t know why. Between me and him, parang ako ‘yung mas may karapatan sa bahay, hindi siya,” Ria said.
