Kris Aquino Confirms 7th Autoimmune Disease Called “Fibromyalgia”

In an update, Kris Aquino gets honest about having her 7th autoimmune disease called Fibromyalgia, and here are some details about this.

Autoimmune thyroiditis, chronic spontaneous urticaria, Churg-Strauss syndrome, systemic sclerosis, lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis are the six autoimmune conditions of Kris Aquino that we know until recently. In a new Instagram post, she shared that she now has seven and the latest one that she was diagnosed with is Fibromyalgia.

What is Fibromyalgia?

According to the Mayo Clinic, this is a “disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory, and mood issues”. It is believed that this affects how the brain and spinal cord process painful and nonpainful signals resulting in increased pain being felt.

Women are more likely to develop fibromyalgia than men. Among its primary symptoms are widespread pain, fatigue, and cognitive difficulties.

Those who have this condition also suffer from tension headaches, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, and depression. There is currently no cure for this and some of the contributing factors leading to this are genetics, infections, and physical or emotional events.

People who have other disorders such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or lupus are more likely to develop fibromyalgia.

Apart from her 7th autoimmune condition, Aquino further shared that she is also showing symptoms of Polymyositis and Mixed Connective Tissue Disease. She did dive further into the symptoms as she just wanted to be honest with the people who are praying for her fast recovery. She owes it to them and she has always been grateful.

Currently, she weighs 37 kilos and the possibility of her returning to work seems a blur for now. But once she gets better and all, she will as this is accordingly her deal with her doctors.
