We see him conquer an action-packed world in the small screen but in the big screen, Coco Martin showcases the hilarious side we rarely see, proving that there’s more to him than just being the serious and stalwart Cardo Dalisay.

Before he was hailed as the King of Philippine Television, Coco’s beginnings were humble and challenging. He started doing rakets as talent until the Brillante Mendoza film “Masahista” brought him to places, literally, as the masterpiece won big in international film festivals. The acting adventure then began; first, in Switzerland where “Masahista” made it to the Locamo Film Festival and later, at the Toronto Film Festival in Canada. This opened up a slew of noteworthy indie roles for Coco. Soon, he was cast in “Kinatay” which bagged an award at the 62^nd Cannes Festival.

While taking on the throne as the “Prince of Indie Films”, Coco also starred in several television projects including Ligaw na Bulaklak, Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo, and Sa’yo Lamang after having been launched as part of the Star Magic’s Star Circle Batch 9.

His passion for the craft fared him well in television and movies. Just as when we thought we’ve already seen every bit of Coco’s potential, the actor surprised us once more when he topbilled the light romantic movie “Maybe This Time” with Sarah Geronimo in 2014. Moviegoers were delighted to take a glimpse of Coco’s funny side. Just a year after, we fell in love with his catchphrases in the 2015 rom-com “You’re My Boss” which he starred in alongside Toni Gonzaga.

Coco continued to explore the comedy genre on the big screen. What better way to prove his comedic chops than join forces with Vice Ganda in the 2015 MMFF entry “Beauty and the Bestie.” The laugh-out-loud performance opened up another project for the new comic duo as they brought us “The Super Parental Guardians” in 2016.

His yearly film tradition continued in 2017 via the epic comeback of the iconic Pinoy hero, “Ang Panday.” And while the much-anticipated movie was a mix of action and fantasy, Coco did not forget to squeeze in a bit of comedy in the story. His funny banats as Flavio makes him worthy of the title “Adventurous Joker.”

Coco gained full mastery on creating the perfect blend of comedy and action. This was shown in his last MMFF entry, “3pol Trobol Huli Ka Balbon” where he brought the well-loved FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano character, Paloma, in the big screen.

Over a decade of sharing his talent and passion, indeed, Coco has already made truly exceptional contributions in the industry.
