Cedric Lee dismisses petition vs Vhong Navarro
The Court of Appeals (CA) has dismissed businessman Cedric Lee’s petition to reconsider the decision of the Taguig City Regional Trial Court in 2022 that dismissed the serious illegal detention for ransom case filed against him and six others by comedian and television host Vhong Navarro.
Aside from Lee, Deniece Millinette Cornejo, Bernice Cua Lee, Simeon Palma Raz Jr., Jose Paolo Gregorio A. Calma, Sajed Fernandez Abuhijleh, and Ferdinand Guerrero were also charged with violation of Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code at the Taguig RTC.
According to the court, the accused used weapons when they locked Navarro in Cornejo’s condominium unit in Bonifacio Global City. In addition, the accused allegedly assaulted, threatened to kill, and demanded money from Navarro.
Based on the complaint, Lee demanded P2 million but Navarro agreed to give P1 million.
The Taguig RTC dismissed Lee’s appeal, prompting him to file a motion for reconsideration with the CA.
