Veteran journalist Arnold Clavio has recently become the focus of criticism from the online community after making statements that were said to be aimed at former President Rodrigo Duterte (FPRRD). However, instead of receiving support, he has faced a wave of backlash from the public, especially from Duterte’s supporters.
In a recent discussion on the media, Arnold Clavio is said to have made some comments about the political situation and decisions of the FPRRD while in office. Although the exact content of what he mentioned is unclear, this has caused a stir in the online community, especially Duterte’s supporters.
Immediately, a netizen responded harshly, telling Arnold Clavio:
This comment quickly went viral on social media platforms, becoming one of the hottest topics.
Many Duterte supporters expressed anger, saying that Arnold Clavio has no right to criticize the FPRRD. Some netizens also recalled Arnold Clavio’s past scandals, questioning whether he is morally qualified to speak out on political issues.
Some notable comments from netizens:
– *”Arnold Clavio should look at himself before criticizing others. Don’t pretend to be perfect!”*
– *”Duterte has done a lot for this country, while Arnold Clavio has done nothing but create controversy?”*
– *”Time will prove who is right and who is wrong, but Mr. Clavio is definitely not the one who should speak out about this!”*
However, there are also some opinions defending Arnold Clavio, saying that he is only performing his duty as a journalist and has the right to ask questions about political figures.
Up to now, Arnold Clavio has not made an official statement about this wave of protests. However, with pressure from public opinion, it is likely that he will have to speak up to clarify his stance.
The drama between Arnold Clavio and FPRRD supporters has not shown any signs of abating. Will this veteran journalist remain silent or respond more strongly in the coming days? And will public opinion accept his explanation?
All are still big questions, but one thing is certain, every political statement in the Philippines can become a spark for a heated debate!
Arnold Clavio’s piece of advice for aspiring journalists: ‘Love your job, love yourself too’

Given his decades-long experience in the journalism industry, the Kapuso broadcast journalist said that it is important to love the job but there should be balance.
“Love your job to love yourself back,” he told GMA News Online after the contract signing. “But what happened to me — love your job, but balance it.”
Back in mid-June, Igan suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. While driving home after playing golf, he felt a strange sensation on his right side and decided to stop at the nearest hospital. Days later, he assured the public that he is out of danger.
According to the news anchor, prioritizing one’s health is important to last long in the industry.
“If you can’t, tell your boss that I need to take a break. Because even what you say might be affected because your brain is no longer working, you’re tired,” he said.
He added that his health scare was a “wake-up call to balance.”
Love your work, at the same time, love yourself too. Take care of yourself,” he said.
Following his stroke, Igan had to undergo physical therapy and rehabilitation.
Although he is not fully recovered yet, he went back to work in August as he believes being back on air will help him recover.
“It’s different the energy he gives me to get back to being who I used to be,” he shared on “24 Oras.”
“Unang Hirit,” the country’s longest-running morning show, is marking its 25th anniversary on December 6.
