Restaurateur and chef Margarita Forés has passed away at the age of 65.
Margarita’s son, Amado Forés, confirmed the sad news via an Instagram post on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
His message read: “Dear Friends and Family,
“It is with a heavy heart that I share the sudden passing of my Mom, Margarita A. Forés.
“Our family is mourning this unexpected loss, and we kindly ask for your prayers during this time. We will be able to share more in due time.
“With gratitude, Amado”
Amado did not specify the cause of his mother’s death or the date she passed away.

But just yesterday, February 10, Margarita posted a photo taken from her suite at The Upper House in Hong Kong.
There were reports that the restaurateur-chef was found unresponsive inside her hotel room after failing to show up for a scheduled lunch meeting.

It was 1997 when she opened Cibo, a casual Italian restaurant that immediately became a hit with customers.

Margarita is the granddaughter of tycoon J. Amado Araneta, who developed the 35-hectare Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon city, and of prominent surgeon Dr. Jose Y. Forés, one of the founders of the Makati Medical Center.
