Chef-restaurateur Margarita Fores’ cause of death revealed
Many continue to mourn the death of the well-loved chef and entrepreneur.
Cardiac arrest.
This is the cause of the sudden death of renowned chef and restaurateur Margarita Forés, 65. Margarita’s son Amado shared the cause of her mother’s death.
Amado sent a message to the media on Saturday, February 15.
“Her death was reported as due to cardiac arrest,” Amado said.
He added: “My mom touched so many lives. Thank you all for the love and support you have given me and my family during this difficult time.
“Your kindness and the memories you’ve shared about my mom give me comfort and strength.
“Her passion, precision, and generosity defined her. The flavors she loved, the standards she set, and the lives she touched will endure because Margarita never just cooked; she transformed.”
BELOVED EVEN OUTSIDE THE KITCHEN
Messages of condolence immediately poured in from various personalities who knew and worked with Margarita after the sad news of her passing broke. Actress and restaurant owner Judy Ann Santos was among those who paid tribute to the Cibo founder through Instagram Stories with a photo of Margarita.
“You will never be forgotten chef. Heaven gained a talented and inspiring angel,” Judy Ann said.
Even actor and restaurant owner Matteo Guidicelli also sent a message for the late chef and entrepreneur.
“You were not just a mentor but a true friend—always a joy to be with.” You will always and forever be the best.”
ASIA’S BEST FEMALE CHEF
Margarita grew up in Manila before flying to America for college.
Margarita comes from a prestigious family.
Her grandfather, J. Amado Araneta, was the businessman behind the development of the Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City.
Meanwhile, her other grandfather, Dr. Jose Y. Forés, is recognized as one of the country’s first surgeons and co-founder of the private hospital Makati Medical Center.
Although she graduated in accountancy, Margarita went to Italy in 1986 to study culinary arts, specifically Italian cuisine.
Margarita used her culinary knowledge when she opened Cibo restaurant at Glorietta 3 in Makati in 1997 after entering the catering business. Cibo was successful and later expanded to have branches in and outside Metro Manila.
Margarita was honored as Asia’s Best Female in 2016 Chef.
