Raquel Pempengco, Jake Zyrus’ mother, immediately spoke out to refute her son’s claims. She denied that she was indifferent to his pain and insisted that Jake was deliberately distorting the truth to gain attention.

“I don’t know why he said those things. I’ve always been a loving mother. If it really happened, why is he saying it now?” Raquel responded in a separate interview.

She also emphasized that she and Jake Zyrus have had a rocky relationship for many years, and she believes that these accusations are just part of a personal conflict between mother and son.

Jake Zyrus’ revelation immediately caused a wave of controversy on social media. Some people expressed sympathy and called for victims of abuse to be heard and protected. Recently, the sad news broke that the mother and brother of Raquel Pempengco, the mother of singer Jake Zyrus, passed away one after another.

Jake’s grandmother, ‘Tes Pineda Relucio, passed away last Sunday, April 3, after not waking up from her sleep.

After this, her brother, Robert Pineda Relucio, died this Wednesday morning, April 6, due to an accident involving a motorcycle.

According to a report by the Philippine Entertainment Portal or PEP on April 6, Raquel came to them to ask for help because Jake had not yet shown any signs of illness. She said she desperately needed help with expenses because two people in their family had died. Her brother allegedly died while guarding their mother’s grave.

“I wish he would help me but I can’t do it. “I’m the only one my family is expecting,” Raquel’s message and appeal to her son. He is said to be in America now and they haven’t been able to talk for a long time.

Jake is currently staying in America but, according to Raquel, he hasn’t been in touch with her for a long time.

Meanwhile, on Friday, April 8, through his manager Carl Cabral, Jake expressed his grief and mourning over the passing of his grandmother and uncle, according to ABS-CBN News.

“We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Lola Thess and Tito Obet. I am constantly communicating with one of the family members,” the manager said.

“This is a heartbreaking time for the family and those who love them dearly. Let us help the bereaved to mourn privately.”

“We greatly appreciate your sincere sympathy during this time of grief and loss.”

Jake’s camp is reportedly in touch with his relatives.
