Coco Martin expresses worry over ABS-CBN employees’ livelihood
14 Feb – Coco Martin recently took to social media to express his support for his network ABS-CBN over the issue of its franchise renewal.
The actor posted an image of the Kapamilya building on Instagram with the words of Kapitan Geny Lopez that read, “Our reason for being is and always will be in the Service of the Filipino”.
“Through “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano”, we have had a great deal of help, from our artists, staff and crew. Again and again, especially for artists who lost their hope of seeing themselves on television again, they had the opportunity to earn money and pursue their dreams again [through our show]!” he added.
Martin stated that the employment of 11,000 people will be in jeopardy if ABS-CBN closes, including the actor himself.
“What about my family and the families of everyone who works in this company? Here we look forward to our lives,” he added.
“In working with ABS-CBN, I have toured almost the entire Philippines and around the world to express my appreciation and thank all the Filipinos who support our shows. ABS-CBN also organises charity events to help our fellow citizens. Whenever a disaster strikes, ABS-CBN does its best to help everyone in need. And I personally witnessed how well ABS-CBN intends to help all Filipinos.
I don’t know how I would feel if I lost ABS-CBN, which is a big part of my life. May you help us pray to stir the heart and enlighten the minds of the people who want to shut down the station that helps so many lives!” Martin expressed.
