Award Winning Child Actor Then, Now Works as a Delivery Rider
Lester Llansang, the former child star, shared his experience as a delivery rider. In an interview with Pia Arcangel on “Tunay na Buhay” in 2021, Lester recounted his life as a child actor who was discovered when he was just four years old. Lester had a successful career as a child actor and even received prestigious awards like Best Child Actor from the Metro Manila Film Festival and FAMAS.
But as he grew older, acting opportunities began to dwindle. According to Lester, as he grew older, he also gradually lost roles that suited him, which made it difficult to find work in showbiz. Because of this, he looked for other ways to support his family and his son.
Lester said that he was discovered at a mall when he lost his direction and separated from his “grandmother mommy”. While looking for his grandmother, he started asking the salesladies at the mall if they had seen his grandmother. Before they answered, they asked Lester to perform first—sing, dance, and act. At that time, he was met by a former actor and talent manager named Tonette Macho, and that’s where his showbiz career began.
After his successful performances in movies and teleseryes as a young actor, he began to revisit his acting career when he was cast in FPJ’s “Ang Probinsyano” starring Coco Martin. However, the COVID-19 pandemic came and caused a big change in his life and work. Along with the start of the pandemic, he was also affected by the closure of ABS-CBN, so he decided to find another way to provide for his family’s needs.
Due to the challenges, Lester started online selling and became a delivery rider of his products to help his family. He also resells helmets and other motorcycle accessories. Despite the hardships caused by the pandemic and the closure of his former network, Lester has shown his ability to adapt and find alternative ways to move forward in life and succeed despite the challenges.
Lester’s story is a testament to his courage and determination to overcome challenges. Despite the setback in his acting career, he continued to find ways to support his family. His trials have inspired many, and he has shown that life’s changes are not an obstacle to moving forward and striving.
