Neri Naig syndicated estafa case arraignment postponed anew
Neri Naig still mum about her court cases.
Neri Naig Miranda appeared before the Pasay City Regional Trial Court Branch 112 for the arraignment of her cases, Thursday, January 9, 2025.

Neri is facing charges of 14 counts of violation of Securities Regulation Code, and syndicated estafa.

Neri was accompanied to court by her husband Chito Miranda.

NERI NAIG’S ARRAIGNMENT POSTPONED TO A LATER DATE
According to a report by 24 Oras last night, the court postponed the reading of the indictment against Neri again.

The court said there are still motions that the court wants to resolve before the actress-businesswoman is finally read the indictment.

Neri’s lawyers did not give any statement to the media.

Meanwhile, Prosecutor General Richard Fadullion said that the hearing of the syndicated estafa complaint against Neri will be transferred to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

This follows the Pasay RTC’s dismissal of the warrant of arrest against Neri. Neri was allegedly not given due process because he did not receive a subpoena.

This follows the filing of a motion to quash the warrant of arrest by his camp on December 4, 2024.

The camp of the complainants is open here tomorrow.

According to Atty. Roberto Labe, “They are availing the remedies, they have their rights, but still, the facts remain that there are private complainants.”

Neri was arrested by the police in the basement of a convention center in Pasay City on November 23.

This is related to 14 counts of violation of the Securities Regulation Code (SRC) and syndicated estafa.

The total bail for the 14 counts of security regulations violation is PHP1.7 million and the syndicated estafa is non-bailable.

On December 4, Neri was released from a five-day hospital furlough.

Instead of returning to jail, the businesswoman and former actress went straight home.

This was after the Pasay City RTC Branch 112 ordered Neri’s immediate release following the court’s favor in the motion to quash the actress-businesswoman’s camp.

Neri spent seven days in the Pasay City Jail Female Dormitory after her arrest.

That day was a big victory for Neri’s lawyers because apart from their motion to quash a warrant of arrest being granted, Neri was also released from detention.

A motion to quash is a legal remedy in which the accused is allowed to question the legality of the warrant of arrest.
