Grace Poe apologizes to cousin Sheryl Cruz over parentage issue
Sen. Grace Poe on Tuesday apologized to her cousin Sheryl Cruz after the latter expressed dismay about her mother Rosemarie Sonora’s involvement in the lawmaker’s parentage issue.

“I apologize to him. I don’t want their name to be tarnished. I didn’t say anything about them taking a DNA test,” said Poe, the adoptive daughter of Sonora’s sister Susan Roces.

In an interview on radio dzBB, Cruz expressed dismay over the continued discussion of an urban legend that Poe was Sonora’s lovechild with the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos.

The issue was exacerbated by jokes made by Poe and Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. about being siblings.

Poe’s parentage has been a hot issue because of questions surrounding her citizenship. She recently underwent DNA testing to try to shed more light on her parentage to lay the issue of her being a natural-born Filipino to rest.
