Rodriguez on leaving Malacañang: ‘I can’t stand the corruption!’
The lawyer was questioned. Vic Rodriguez revealed the real reason he “fell out” with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.
During the “Tanong ng Bayan: GMA Senate Faceoff 2025” event, Rodriguez said he couldn’t stand the corruption, which is why he left Malacañang.
According to Rodriguez, “I couldn’t stand the corruption, so I left Malacañang. I was even given a position — chief of staff to the president. But I didn’t like the direction they were going. So I said, ‘I don’t want it anymore. I’m going to go back to private.’”
“Second,” he continued, “there’s the [Philippine] Federalist Party. They fired me because they were angry. They wanted, they asked me, when I was executive secretary to make them chairman of Comelec, chairman of PAGCOR, chairman of PCSO, and chairman of the Civil Service Commission. They are not qualified.” Rodriguez added, “I know, all they want is to steal, so I said no to that. That’s why they are angry with me.”
It should be recalled that in September 2022, Rodriguez announced his resignation as executive secretary to President Ferdinand “Bongbog” Marcos, Jr.
But even before that, Rodriguez had been a lawyer and spokesperson for PBBM for a long time.
