Pauleen receives rape threat; Baby Tali bullied at school over movie teaser
One of the reasons why “Eat Bulaga” host Vic Sotto’s camp filed a 19-count cyber libel case against “The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma” director Darryl Yap is that it also had a boomerang effect on his wife Pauleen Luna-Sotto and their daughter Tali Sotto.

In an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) Vic’s legal counsel, Atty. Buko Dela Cruz, said that Pauleen received a rape threat because of the controversial teaser of the movie.

Even Bossing’s daughter Tali is being bullied at school because of the teaser, after her father’s name was directly mentioned, based on the dialogue between Gina Alajar and Rhed Bustamante. Director Gina played the role of Charito Solis while Rhed played Pepsi.

“Whatever good intentions you might have, the effect is already there,” the lawyer explained.

According to Vic’s legal counsel, only the teaser video of the Pepsi Paloma biopic movie is covered by their writ of habeas data petition in court, and others if it is released or leaked to theaters, in case there is probable cause to file a lawsuit.

Regarding the aforementioned teaser video, director Darryl Yap’s lawyer, Atty. Raymond Fortun, clarified that the court has not yet ordered a halt to promotional teasers or videos related to the controversial movie.

It can be recalled that on January 9, Vic formally filed a 19-count cyber libel case against Darryl at the Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court, at the prosecutor’s office. Vic’s petition reportedly sought a halt to the dissemination of what they said were sensitive and personal details about the former, including the alleged online takedown of the aforementioned promotional material.

The court also ordered Darryl’s camp to submit a verified return of the writ in this regard.

According to the director’s legal counsel, based on an interview with GMA Integrated News, the court has not yet ordered the removal of the teaser, and they will still fight the director’s right to “freedom of artistic expression.”

Darryl’s camp also said that they gave Vic a copy of the script before the teaser was released, contrary to the latter’s claim that the director did not consult them before making the project.

The purpose of sending the script to Vic was for him to comment on it, but despite following up with them several times, they never responded.

“The purpose was really for them to give comments on the script,” the lawyer said.

“No, Director Darryl followed up several times about it until finally all the scenes were shot. So, it’s not our fault,” Fortun explained.
