Meteor Garden star Barbie Hsu dies at 48
Barbie Hsu’s sister confirmed the very sad news.Popular Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu passed away due to pneumonia on Monday, February 3, 2025.
She was 48.
Barbie’s sister, talk show host Dee Hsu, confirmed the sad news through her agent. The statement released to the media said: “Our whole family came to Japan for a trip, and my dearest and most kindhearted sister Barbie Hsu died of influenza-induced pneumonia and unfortunately left us.”
Dee added, “I was grateful to be her sister in this life and that we got to care for and spend time with each other. I will always be grateful to her and miss her!”

Barbie rose to fame for her role as Shan Cai in the phenomenal hit Taiwanese drama series Meteor Garden in 2001.
She starred alongside the so-called F4, Jerry Yan (Dao Ming Xi), Vic Zhou (Hua Ze Lei), Vanness Wu (Mei Zuo), and Ken Chu (Xi Men).
Barbie Hsu is survived by her South Korean husband, singer DJ Koo Jun-yup, and her 10-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son from ex-husband Wang Xiaofei.
