Katherine Luna has a message for Coco Martin.
After so many years, Katherine Luna apologized to Coco Martin.

On February 17, 2025, Katherine was featured in an exclusive interview with Julius Babao for the YouTube channel of the TV5 broadcaster.

Here, Katherine broke her long silence about her alleged child with Coco.

KATHERINE LUNA ON MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING WITH COCO MARTIN
Julius first asked Katherine how she and Coco had a relationship.

Katherine clarified that it was not a relationship but “mutual understanding.” They had worked together on an indie movie before.

She said: “Coco is kind. Of course, I’m like ‘Pogi!’ I used to like pogi.

“I like being with her. You can feel that there is a mutual understanding.”

Coco was even sleeping at Katherine’s place at the time.

Later, their friendship suddenly waned. They saw each other less often.

Then Katherine met a Chinese businessman, and something happened between them.

This was followed by a reunion with Coco, who was not yet very famous.

Three months later, Katherine discovered that she was pregnant.

WHO’S THE FATHER OF KATHERINE’S CHILD?

Katherine is not sure who the father of the child in her womb is.

Katherine reportedly informed Coco that he might be the father of the one she was carrying.

Katherine praised Coco for not walking away from her after she told her, even though the actor was already in a relationship with someone else.

When Katherine gave birth to a baby girl, Coco even visited and held the actress’s child.

Coco said that the baby looked just like her when she was young.

Katherine said she thought Coco meant that he was assuming the fatherhood of the actress’s child.

“I’m just a year old. I assume,” Katherine said.

But Katherine insisted that after giving birth to her child, she did not ask for any support from Coco. But as the child grew up, Katherine noticed that he looked more and more like the Chinese businessman she had spent the night with.

This is when Katherine realized that Coco was not the father of her child but the businessman.

But she did not admit it publicly.

Katherine said, “He is not the father. It’s just hard to take it back. First of all, there is a child, eh.”

When Katherine’s child was about three years old, Coco would sometimes borrow the child.

Katherine was not aware that Coco and her child were seeing each other.

Coco was also reportedly talking to Katherine’s mother without her knowledge

Katherine suspected that this was Coco’s chance to get the child’s DNA tested.

COCO IS NOT THE FATHER BASED ON DNA
Coco addressed this issue in an interview with Boy Abunda on The Buzz, ABS-CBN’s defunct showbiz talk show, in 2014.

In that interview, Coco expressed resentment over the fact that she was judged for being pregnant and that he did not stand up for her.

Those were the times when Katherine spoke in interviews and accused Coco.

The actor also agreed with Katherine when the actress said she was pregnant, Coco’s question was what support she needed to provide.

Coco also said that she borrowed the child and took that opportunity to have it DNA tested.

Coco said in The Buzz interview: “Well, we talked to the grandmother and she agreed to have it DNA tested.

“The result was negative. The child is not my child.

“On my part, I want to adopt the child. Of course, it’s not her fault.

“I also don’t know where to go. What about now, the one she was most hoping for, it’s gone.”

KATHERINE ADMITS HER FAULT
According to Katherine, she used to refuse interviews about the issue.

Her reason was, “I don’t know how to tell her [Coco] because I’m being led by shame, huh.”

Coco even wanted the child to be with her, but Katherine refused because she knew that he was not the actor’s child.

Katherine also considered the welfare of her then-young child regarding the real father.

Julius Babao mentioned in his interview with Katherine that the actress’ mistake was not admitting to Coco that he was not the child’s father.

Katherine explained: “I don’t know how to take it back. I don’t know how to explain myself.

“Because this is what I said, eh.”

According to Katherine, even before the DNA testing happened, she was silent.

She admitted: “I chose to hide from people. I chose not to answer the issue. I chose to just disappear from the scene because I was ashamed.

“Because I didn’t know what face to put on. I didn’t know how to say that I was wrong, that I made a mistake.”

Aside from that challenge, Katherine said she thought about how it would affect her daughter.

“There were sins, I made mistakes, but I didn’t intend to mess up her life for my daughter,” the actress said of Coco.

“I was young [then], I easily believed rumors, that’s what I believed.”

Katherine also shared that she contacted the businessman who is the real father of her child, and he said that they had a child together.

The businessman said he never responded, saying that his wife is also an actress now.

KATHERINE APOLOGIZES TO COCO
Katherine is now happy for the success that Coco is hoping for.

She said: “Despite what happened later with the issues between us, I’m happy for her.

“She deserves it because when she was still in the indie-indie stage, she pushed for it.

“She pursued it to get to the top. That’s the person who is really persistent in life, determined.”

Katherine was asked if she had a message for Coco.

She replied: “I’m so ashamed of whatever happened… what I said before.

“I hope one day you can forgive me.

I want to thank you because unlike others out there, when it was said that [the child] was his, no one cared.”

But when he told Coco that he was pregnant, the actor didn’t walk away, but instead made an effort to be responsible.

“But I’m sorry, I made a mistake because of my youth, because of the wrong I did in the past.

“And you, your life is in trouble. I ask for your forgiveness.

“I hope you forgive me someday,” said Katherine.

KATHERINE REVEALS WHAT SHE WENT THROUGH
Katherine became known for her maiden indie movie in Babae Sa Breakwater (2003) directed by the late Mario O’Hara.

Katherine won three best actress awards in the country and two abroad for her performance in this movie.

She has also done several other movies and appeared on television. In an interview with Julius, Katherine revealed the heavy burden she faced in life after leaving showbiz.

The former indie actress said she left showbiz because she lost self-confidence.

In 2015, she had just given birth to her sixth child when her ex-partner borrowed it.

They were already having problems in their relationship. The man refused to return the baby.

Katherine said she took it very seriously and cried non-stop. It affected one of her eyes.

Throughout Julius’s interview, Katherine covered half of her face with her hair.

“I got sick. I had a problem with my other eye. Of course, I lost my self-confidence. I was ashamed,” Katherine explained.

The next thing that happened was, “I was hooked on the vice.”

She admitted: “It was like that was all you could hold on to, that’s where you found the courage, the boldness to face people.

“First, you just tried. Until you got nothing, you went astray.”

FOUR YEARS IN PRISON

Another thing Katherine was going through was resentment towards her mother.

“She did something to me in the family that really made me fall a little, like… I was drowning and couldn’t get out.”

He later admitted that it had to do with a bad investment and all his hard work was gone.

He said that all his savings were gone.

Katherine said that he took it seriously because he was completely exhausted from working as a breadwinner.

Another difficult ordeal he went through was being imprisoned for four years.

In 2020, their house was raided and he and his then-partner were handcuffed.

Katherine said that he uses drugs, but he does not sell them.

He was asked what his experience was like inside the prison.

Looking back, he said: “It was sad but I survived because they had activities [that] I participated in.

“I was in the kitchen. I cooked for the personnel, for the inmates.

“They trusted me there. It wasn’t that hard but it was sad.”

While in prison, her mother visited once and they had a heart-to-heart talk.

It was here that Katherine poured out all her resentment towards her mother.

Her mother apologized to her. They forgave each other.

That’s when Katherine’s change began. She learned to pray, which she didn’t do before.

While in prison, she realized her mistakes and shortcomings towards her children.

She said this had a positive effect on her for changing and clinging to her faith.

She said a “miracle” occurred because the case against her suddenly accelerated. And it was dismissed.

Katherine is said to be crying because she will be free.

KATHERINE ON BIGGEST REGRET
Despite her imprisonment, Katherine believes that there is a reason why it happened.

If she had not been imprisoned, she would probably be dead now or part of a big syndicate.

Katherine’s answer when asked about her biggest regret has to do with her seven children.

Katherine said, “I neglected my children. I let other people take care of them.”

Katherine is currently recovering from her seven children.

“Being a father and mother, I try even though it’s hard… I try to provide, and I try to show them—to make them feel like they have a mother. That I’m here.”

Katherine is currently working performing in shows such as pole dancing.
