Kim Chiu on relationship with Xian Lim: ‘That’s up to us’
MANILA — “It’s up to us.”
This is what actress Kim Chiu said about her relationship status with Xian Lim amid the speculations that they have broken up.
Several rumors are circulating that Lim and Chiu are no longer together, but neither camp has confirmed or denied the issue.
“That’s great … that’s just for us, we’ll just keep it to ourselves first,” Chiu said during the 25th anniversary fashion show of Filipino designer Francis Libiran on Friday night at the City of Dreams Manila.

Chiu earlier denied rumors that she and her boyfriend have called it quits. The speculations stemmed from the actress’s recent solo trip.
This is not the first time that Chiu and Lim are rumored to have broken up.
Lim and Chiu have been dating since 2012, although it was only in 2018 when the actress confirmed their relationship.
Meanwhile, Chiu said that she will be spending the holidays here in the Philippines with her family.
After their success in the series “Linlang,” Chiu also talked about how excited she is teaming up again with Paulo Avelino for a new project, the remake of the hit Korean show “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim” which they will be releasing in 2024.
She thanked fans who liked the Kim-Paulo chemistry in “Linlang” and said she is overjoyed with the outpouring of blessings in her career.
Xian Lim says he did not initiate a breakup with Kim Chiu
MANILA — Actor Xian Lim says he is still friends with ex-girlfriend Kim Chiu, after they confirmed the end of their 12-year relationship last December 2023. “Of course,” Lim said when asked if he remains friends with his ex-girlfriend during an appearance in “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda” on Wednesday.
However, Lim also bared that he hasn’t had the chance to talk with Chiu again after their separation, as a show of respect for each other. Because Tito Boy, to be completely honest ever since we went our separate ways, we haven’t been able to talk. But we of course, when that night happened, we had a good conversation. Of course, there was crying but there was that assurance that we went through 12 years of our existence, it has that respect,” he said. The actor is also aware of the controversies he needed to face, after he and Chiu parted ways.
“There are so many stories, especially that’s what’s difficult in a public relationship. And they’ve been there since day one, when they were courting all the way to more than a decade… People come up with all these made of these lies, whatever. But, we released our statement that we both decided to part ways,” he explained.
Without going into the details, Lim revealed that he was not the one who ended their relationship.
“To be completely honest I wasn’t the one engaged in the separation, that’s just him, it’s that simple,” he said. “I know they’re saying that….”
Asked if he did not initiate the break-up, Lim said: “Yeah, I wasn’t the one who initiated the break-up.”
The actor also reacted to the mixed emotions of their supporters, who have backed him and Chiu for more than a decade.
“I understand why the supporters are angry, I understand why they feel betrayed. But that hurts us too,” he said. “They’re watching us from a distance. Here we are, you know, we have our talks.”
“We talked privately. There’s no need to belittle who’s lacking. I think the length speaks for itself, and the criticism I’m getting from most people, I think they should look at it from us … For more than a decade, I never had any … My record is clean, and I am proud of that,” he added.
According to Lim, he is also saddened by all the allegations and fake reports that come along after they parted ways.
“It’s just sad that there’s a lot of intrigue coming out especially against me and I don’t want to make it seem like why is Xian the one making all the noise now, what’s going on because there’s a movie promo. It’s just a very delicate thing and I do understand why people are upset, but we are okay,” he said.
Just last Friday, Chiu had broken her silence amid Lim’s repeated statements about their relationship.
The Kapamilya actress said: “It ended, the journey was beautiful. I don’t want to feel bad anymore. Because it’s just happening again and again. Let’s give it a rest and let’s leave respect to each other.”
