Kris Aquino reminisces James Yap’s sweet gestures to her when they were still together
On Thursday’s episode of Kris TV where she was with Pooh and Erich Gonzales on a food trip in Malate, they discussed what the sweetest thing someone has done for them.

For Erich, the time her relationship gives her is the sweetest thing that has ever happened to her, “For me, it’s the time he gives her. It’s sweet for me because that’s something you can’t get back because your time is very precious because for someone who is very busy, you have to give it away.”

So when Erich and Pooh asked the Queen of All Media what she remembers the sweetest thing someone did for her, Kris paused and thought, but a revelation came out of her mouth when she answered the comedian’s question. “I wonder what, our last wedding anniversary, my Mom was really dying and James really knew that I was really sad. No matter what, he’s stingy but he really spent money on me, he bought me a Birkin.”

The Birkin that Kris Aquino mentioned is the Hermes Birkin Bag which is said to cost 2-2.5 million pesos. Kris added, “I mean that was near the end but I said, ‘Oh my god I remember he said I know how sad you are so at least there’s a little happiness in it. That was my first because I don’t really buy because I feel guilty. I know it was a material thing but it was the thought behind the material thing.” Although this expensive brand is famous, Kris admitted that this was her first Hermes Bag, “I didn’t have it because my Mom said it’s not allowed, my Mom doesn’t like orange boxes, my Mom used to forbid it, after I had it because my Mom said it’s not really fair to spend that amount on a bag but that was the first one that came out, that was July 22, yes that’s it. If you ask me number one, he really loves her, maybe it’s her one month’s salary. Secondly, it’s not really her trip but she knows she’ll make me happy.”

Kris went on to say, “I remember, they even called Gretchen [Barretto] to ask where to buy what…”And when Kris TV’s head writer Darla Sauler suddenly asked what color, Kris immediately replied, “Fuchsia! But when we broke up, I traded it in. Oh my god! Sorry! At least I’m being honest because it’s just so there’s nothing left.” And Kris admitted that when she told her story, it was the first time James knew what happened. “Only now! It’s not gone, can’t we move on, let’s all move on so it’s not awkward.”

Even Pooh was happy with what Kris’ ex-husband did. “That’s cute, it wasn’t the only effort that she called [Gretchen] to find out.” Which Kris also agreed with. “Yes, what type and where to buy it, then I knew that the pink one was what I wanted, then I changed it to a different pink one so that I wouldn’t be sad when I used it.”

Kris added that her ex-husband also gave her an expensive gift, “There was another one, in fairness to him because he’s an Aquarius so maybe there was something sweet about it, his last birthday which was 2010… it was a watch with a pink face, Rolex. Then it was on there, I also remember that card. Maybe at that time it was five years old, so ‘Thank you for those 5 years’ like that, ‘So you’ll always remember me.’ Then I traded it in too,” Kris admitted with a laugh. She added, “I’ve admitted everything, sorry, I’ve changed it too… I also upgraded and at least they know, right? That’s it, move on, move on!”

That’s why when Pooh asked, “Don’t you want souvenirs?” Kris answered, “Move on really if you move on. And at least I can’t wear it anymore so there’s no awkwardness, so everything I wear is from me.”

All of this follows the reconciliation she and James Yap reached when it came to the custody of their son Bimby last Sunday, where they met and made up after almost a year of disagreement.
