Ayon kay Dra. Belo, “naloka” si Kim nang magkasakit si Lakam, na itinuturing ngayong isang “walking miracle.”
Bacterial meningitis ang diagnosis sa sakit ni Lakam. Pitong araw siyang na-comatose.
Pagbabalik-tanaw ni Kim, “Sabi ng doctor, hopeless na, ‘tas i-ready na raw yung self namin.”
Sumingit si Lakam at sinabing pinapapirma na si Kim noon ng “DNR order.”
Hindi tinukoy ni Kim kung ano ang pinapapirma sa kanya, pero sinabi ni Dra. Belo na ito ang “do-not-resuscitate (DNR) effect.”
Ang DNR o minsan ay tinatawag na “do not attempt resuscitation” “is a request not to have cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) if your heart stops or if you stop breathing,” ayon sa The Medical City website.
Sabi pa rito, “A DNR is usually discussed by the health care team with the relatives of patients without other advance directives in situations like: a comatose patient, persistent vegetative state, and brain death.”
